Milan, Italy (Sportsbooks) - Jon Dahl Tomasson, Kakhaber Kaladze and Serginho each scored second-half goals as AC Milan beat lowly Atalanta, 3-0, at the San Siro.
The win draws last year's Serie A champions within two points of front-running Juventus, which plays Thursday against Roma. Juventus has yet to lose a match this season.
Tomasson scored the Rossoneri's first goal when he finished a cross from Andrea Pirlo. The goals was the third in Tomasson's three career games against Atalanta.
"Atalanta bring me luck," the Danish striker said. "The most important thing is the team's victory. To play against Atalanta was not easy, they were closing a lot of space on defense and it was difficult for us to find space."
Inter Milan did not show the same resiliency as AC Milan after this past weekend's Milan derby. The two Milan squads finished in a scoreless draw on Sunday. Inter lost steam in the second half Wednesday, looking tired and sloppy against surprising Lecce as they blew a two-goal lead during a 2-2 tie.
Adriano and Obafemi Martins each scored in the first half for Inter, but Valeri Bojinov struck twice for Lecce to even the score. Bojinov now has six Serie A strikes this season.
Adriano and the Nerazzurri had several good chances to record the game-winner. Adriano probably had the best of the opportunities when he fired a shot over the bar from in close midway through the second half.
"I'm disappointed, very disappointed," the Brazilian star explained. "If we drew this match then it's also my fault. I feel responsible because I didn't score from two chances I should have taken better advantage of."
Inter remains without a loss in league play this season, but have only 12 points after eight matches thanks to six draws and just two wins.
Fiorentina used a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Reggina to give interim coach Sergio Buso a victory. Buso is filling in after Emiliano Mondonico was fired earlier this week.
In other midweek Serie A action: Udinese edged Bologna, 1-0; Siena won at Brescia, 1-0; Cagliari continued to climb the table with a 2-1 win over Parma; Sampdoria defeated Chievo, 2-0; Lazio won 2-0 at home over Messina; and Livorno recorded a 2-1 road victory in Palermo.
