New York, NY (Sportsbooks) - Wednesday saw the pre-entry ritual for this year's Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championship. Shortly after the 101 pre-entries were announced the Daily Racing Form put out an early morning-line by handicapper Mike Watchmaker.
Pleasantly Perfect, the winner of last year's Breeders' Cup Classic, is the 3-1 favorite by the Daily Racing Form. The second choice at 7-2 is the undefeated Ghostzapper. Ghostzapper has won all three starts this year and seven of his nine career races. Belmont Stakes winner Birdstone is the third choice at 6-1.
Watchmaker has made former Horse of the Year Azeri the 6-5 favorite for the Breeders' Cup Distaff. Azeri captured the Distaff in 2002 which propelled her to her Horse of the Year honor. Storm Flag Flying is the 5-1 second choice with three-year-old Ashado the third pick at 6-1.
In the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Filly race the Daily Racing Form has Oak Leaf Stakes winner Sweet Catomine as the 5-2 favorite. The second at 4-1 is Sense of Style, winner of the Matron Stakes at Belmont Park. Watchmaker has Balletto, winner of the Frizette Stakes, as the 6-1 third choice.
For the Breeders' Cup Mile which in run on the grass, Watchmaaker has Nothing to Lose as the 4-1 favorite. Trained by Bobby Frankel, Nothing to Lose has won the Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland and the Fourstardave at Saratoga. Six Perfections from Europe is the 5-1 second choice and the lightly raced Special Ring is the third choice at 6-1.
Vanderbilt Handicap winner Speightstown is the 3-1 favorite according to the Daily Racing Form. Midas Eyes, winner of the Forego Handicap, is the second choice at 5-1. Two horses have been put at 6-1 by Mike Watchmaker. Cajun Beat, trained by Bobby Frankel, is coming off a fourth place finish in the Vosburgh Stakes after a six month layoff.Clock Stopper was the beaten favorite in the recently run Phoenix Breders' Cup Stakes at Keeneland.
Last year's Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf saw European horses sweep the first three places in the race. This year the early favorite at 8-5 is Ouija Board. Also pre-entered in the Breeders' Cup Turf, Ouija Board captured the Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks this year. Bobby Frankel's Light Jig is the second choice at 5-1 after winning the Yellow Ribbon at Santa Anita. At 8-1 are Nebraska Tornado and Yesterday.
Norfolk Stakes Romas Ruler is the 2-1 favorite for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile, according to the Daily Racing Form. Proud Accolade, the winner of the Champagne Stakes, is the 5-2 second choice and Hopeful Stakes winner is the 7-2 third choice.
For the Breeders' Cup Turf, Mike Watchmaker has Turf Classic winner Kitten's Joy as the 9-5 early favorite. Ouija Board is the 5-2 second choice. The third choice at 5-1 is Powerscourt, the disqualified winner of the Arlington Million.
The post position draw for the 21st Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park in Texas, will take place Wednesday, October 27. The official morning-line will be available at that time.
