Mason, OH (Sportsbooks) - Top-seeded Lindsay Davenport won her fourth straight tournament with a straight-set victory over Vera Zvonareva in Sunday's final at the inaugural Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open. Davenport, a three-time titlist in her native California this summer, cruised past the second-seeded Zvonareva, 6-3, 6-2, to capture her sixth championship of the year. The fourth-ranked woman in the world, Davenport didn't even have to play in the semifinals, as Marion Bartoli was forced to withdraw due to a blister on her hand. Zvonareva, however, had to save two match points in the other semi before finally taking out American Amy Frazier with a 6-1 margin in the decisive third set. The sizzling Davenport has now been victorious in 18 consecutive matches dating back to her semifinal loss at Wimbledon to eventual champion Maria Sharapova. Davenport, who won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics, decided against competing in Athens this week so she could stay in the United States and prepare for the upcoming U.S. Open. For her 43rd career title, Davenport pocketed $27,000.
