Surrey, BC (Sportsbooks) - Five-time Canadian Tour winner Mike Grob shot a one-under 71 Friday and is among four co-leaders after the second round of the City of Surrey Invitational.
Grob shares the top spot with first-round leader Derek Gillespie (72), Greg McAuley (66) and Kent Eger (67) at seven-under-par 137.
The co-leaders are one stroke ahead of seven players who sit at six-under 138: Brad Heaven (67), Yohann Benson (69), Graham DeLaet (69), James Lepp (69), Jose de Jesus Rodriguez (70), Andres Gonzales (70) and Ryan Thornberry (71).
Grob, who at 45 is the eldest among the co-leaders, made just one birdie in his round, at his 10th hole. He collected 17 pars over the rest of the Hazelmere course.
Gillespie, a contestant on the most recent season of Golf Channel's "Big Break" reality series, led by a shot overnight, but called his second round Friday "boring."
"I made a couple of nice shots and was rolling the ball well, but I just didn't make anything," said Gillespie, a two-time Canadian Tour winner, who mixed three birdies with three bogeys in his round.
McAuley, who has never won on the Canadian Tour, posted six birdies in a spotless outing; while Eger, the 2008 Seaforth Country Classic winner, had seven birdies and two bogeys.
The cut line fell at even-par 144 with 78 players making the weekend.
Adam Speirs, the 2008 champion, carded rounds of 80 and 74 to miss the cut at 10-over 154.
