Seaforth, ON (Sportsbooks) - Adam Bland fired an eight-under-par 63 on Thursday to take the opening-round lead of the inaugural Seaforth Classic at Seaforth Golf Club. Daniel Im, Clint Rice, Andy Matthews and Matt Daniel share second place at seven-under 64. Bland started on the 10th tee Thursday and only managed two birdies in his first five holes. He parred his last four, but went on a tear on his second nine that gave him first place. Bland got to three-under par thanks to a birdie at the par-five second hole. The Australian rattled off five birdies in a row from the fourth and suddenly found himself in first. He parred his last to get in with the first-round lead. Bland has a pair of runner-up finishes at this year's Mexican PGA and La Loma San Luis Potosi Open. Two more top 10s put Bland eighth on this year's Canadian Tour money list. Wil Collins, Andy Walker, Andrew Parr, Kent Eger, Scott Ford, Eric Couture and Brian O'Flaherty are knotted in sixth place at six-under-par 65. John Ellis, the Canadian Tour's leading money winner in 2008, shot a five- under 66 on Thursday and is part of a large group of players tied for 13th place. Last week's Jane Rogers Championship winner Alex Coe posted a three-under 68 in round one and that puts in a tie for 41st.
