Minneapolis, MN (Sportsbooks) - The Minnesota Vikings signed veteran cornerback Benny Sapp to a one-year deal, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The deal is expected to pay Sapp close to $800,000. Sapp, 27, spent the past four seasons as a backup with the Kansas City Chiefs, playing in 56 games and recording two interceptions and 2 1/2 sacks. He is expected to bolster the Vikings' depth in the defensive backfield and also play on special teams. "This was more of an opportunity move than a money move," Sapp's agent, Alonzo Shavers, told the newspaper. "We had more money on the table [elsewhere] but this was the best opportunity and best fit for him."
