Berea, OH (Sportsbooks) - Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson was rewarded with his first Pro Bowl selection Monday, taking the place of AFC starter Tom Brady. Brady won't play in Honolulu on Sunday after his New England Patriots lost in the Super Bowl. Anderson was the first alternate and will become the first Browns quarterback in the Pro Bowl since Bernie Kosar in 1988. In 15 starts this season, Anderson threw for 3,787 yards with 29 touchdowns -- one shy of Brian Sipe's club record set in 1980. Tight end Kellen Winslow will also join the AFC squad in Hawaii, taking the place of the injured Antonio Gates of San Diego. Gates suffered a dislocated toe during the playoffs. Winslow, who will also make his first Pro Bowl appearance, caught 82 passes for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns. His Hall of Fame father, Kellen Sr., played in five Pro Bowls with San Diego. Six Browns will play in Sunday's game, as Anderson and Winslow join wide receiver Braylon Edwards, kick returner Joshua Cribbs, offensive tackle Joe Thomas and long snapper Ryan Pontbriand. |
