Toronto, ON (Sportsbooks) - Dany Heatley scored a career-high four goals for the Ottawa Senators, who trounced the Toronto Maple Leafs 8-0 at Air Canada Centre. Heatley now has eight goals and eight assists after nine games, and has set a new Ottawa record for most consecutive games with a point to start a season. This was also his third career hat trick. Daniel Alfredsson scored a goal and added two assists for the Senators, who have won two straight and still have just one loss on the year. Dominik Hasek stopped all 27 shots he faced in net. Ed Belfour, meanwhile, gave up five goals on 15 shots faced before being pulled in favor of Mikael Tellqvist in the second period. Tellqvist stopped 15 shots on 18 chances for Toronto, which has lost three of its last four.

Montreal, QC (Sportsbooks) - Dominic Moore scored a pair of goals and Henrik Lundqvist made 38 saves to lead the New York Rangers over the Montreal Canadiens, 5-2, at the Bell Centre in the opener of a home-and-home set. Moore, who has recorded all six of his career points against Montreal, scored the first and last goals for New York, which has won two in a row after losing three straight. Martin Rucinsky added a goal and an assist, but left the game in the third period with an apparent knee injury, for the Rangers, who ended a four-game road losing streak and won for just the second time as the guest this season. Richard Zednik had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens, who have dropped two in a row after winning three straight. Montreal will have a chance to inflict some revenge on Monday night when these two team conclude this set in New York.

Uniondale, NY (Sportsbooks) - Ales Kotalik scored two goals and Jochen Hecht added a goal and two assists as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the New York Islanders, 6-4, at Nassau Coliseum. Daniel Briere added a goal and an assist, J.P. Dumont and Tim Connolly tallied goals and Martin Biron made 33 saves for the Sabres, who snapped a two-game skid. Former Sabres Miroslav Satan and Alexei Zhitnik notched goals against their former team and Alexei Yashin and Robert Nilsson scored for the Islanders, who have lost three of their last four contests. Arron Asham recorded two assists for New York.

Atlanta, GA (Sportsbooks) - Fredrik Modin scored twice, including the game- winner 7:03 into the third period, as the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Atlanta Thrashers, 3-2, at Philips Arena. Brad Richards also scored and added an assist, his 10th of the year, for the Lightning, who have won three games in a row. John Grahame stopped 29 shots in the win. Marc Savard and Marian Hossa scored for Atlanta, which has now lost seven of its last eight games, including three straight. Ilya Kovalchuk added an assist to extend his points streak to four games, while Steve Shields stopped 20 of the 23 shots he faced in the loss.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbooks) - Ray Whitney scored the go ahead goal with 3:14 left in the third period to help the Carolina Hurricanes down the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-3, at Mellon Arena. Whitney and Cory Stillman each posted a goal and two assists in the victory. Eric Staal added four assists on his 21st birthday and Carolina won its fifth straight game. Glen Wesley, Rod Brind'Amour and Justin Williams also scored for the Hurricanes. John LeClair, Sergei Gonchar and Ziggy Palffy scored for the Penguins, who were coming off their only win of the season, a 7-5 victory versus Atlanta on Thursday. Sebastien Caron made 28 saves, while Martin Gerber stopped 25 shots in the win.

Brent Burns also scored for the Wild, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Alexander Daigle picked up his seventh assist of the year in the win, while White now has four goals so far this season. David Vyborny scored the lone tally for the Blue Jackets, who had their modest two-game winning streak halted. However, Vyborny had to leave the game with a wrist injury. Martin Prusek suffered his first loss of the season (2-1-0) between the pipes as he made 21-of-24 saves in the defeat. The two teams split a home-and-home set as the Blue Jackets beat the Wild 2-1 Friday.

Chicago, IL (Sportsbooks) - Robert Lang tallied a goal and an assist and Mikael Samuelsson scored his seventh of the year as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-2, at the United Center. Kirk Maltby also scored, Henrik Zetterberg added an empty netter and Chris Osgood stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced for Detroit, which won its eighth game in a row. Tyler Arnason and Kyle Calder lit the lamp and Nikolai Khabibulin made 33 saves for the Blackhawks, who lost their third straight game.

Denver, CO (Sportsbooks) - Ian Laperriere scored 1:55 into overtime to lift the Colorado Avalanche over the Vancouver Canucks, 4-3, at Pepsi Center. Laperriere took a Peter Brisebois pass in the neutral zone and skated in on Vancouver netminder Alexander Auld one-on-one. Laperriere put a move on Auld, opening the goalkeepers legs, and he wristed it through his five-hole for the game-winner. Andrew Brunette added a goal and an assist for the Avs, who have won three in a row including two straight over Vancouver at home. Colorado downed the Canucks 6-2 on Thursday night in a rare back-to-back set at Pepsi Center. David Aebischer ended with 22 saves for Colorado, which is 2-1 versus the Canucks this season. Auld finished with 23 saves after coming on in the first period for an injured Dan Cloutier. Cloutier's injury was not disclosed by the Canucks. He ended with five saves on six shots.

Glendale, AZ (Sportsbooks) - Sergei Zubov and Niko Kapanen scored third period goals as the Dallas Stars came back twice from two-goal deficits to defeat the Phoenix Coyotes, 5-3, at Glendale Arena. Mike Modano, Stu Barnes, and Jeri Lehtinen also had goals for the Stars, who snapped a two-game losing streak. Johan Hedberg made 20 saves for his second victory of the season. Shane Doan had a goal and an assist and Mike Ricci and Fredrik Sjostrom each had goals for the Coyotes, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Curtis Joseph, who recorded his 400th career victory against Calgary on Thursday, made 36 saves in the loss.

Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbooks) - Alexander Frolov had two goals and an assist to lead Los Angeles past St. Louis, 5-2, at Staples Center. Pavol Demitra scored twice and Craig Conroy contributed two assists for the Kings, winners of five of their last seven games. Jason LaBarbera made 29 saves in the win. Petr Cajanek and Jay McClement both lit the lamp for St. Louis, which has lost its last five games. Reinhard Divis had 25 stops in a losing effort. After McClement's tally at 16:15 of the first period gave the Blues a 2-1 lead, Los Angeles scored four straight goals for the win. Demitra's first goal 40 seconds after St. Louis took the lead evened the score. Eric Belanger then gave LA a 3-2 edge at 13:30 of the second period with a shot that sailed over the goaltender's left shoulder.

San Jose, CA (Sportsbooks) - Brad Stuart's goal with 23 seconds left in the third period sent the game into overtime and Nils Ekman scored the deciding goal in the shootout, as the San Jose Sharks edged the Calgary Flames, 3-2, at the Shark Tank. Jonathan Cheechoo posted a goal and an assist and Patrick Marleau added two assists for the Sharks, who have won three straight games. Nolan Schaefer stopped 23-of-25 shots in the victory. Steve Montador and Jarome Iginla scored goals for the Flames, who have dropped three in a row. Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 19 shots for Calgary.
