Eagles acquire Sproles from Saints

Philadelphia, PA (.com) - The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly acquired running back Darren Sproles in a trade with the New Orleans Saints.

The Philadelphia Inquirer, citing an unnamed NFL source in its report, said the Eagles will likely announce the move Tuesday afternoon. ESPN.com reported the compensation to be a fifth-round draft pick.

Sproles played in 15 games last season for the Saints, rushing for 220 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in 71 passes for 604 yards and two scores.

Over his nine-year career with the Saints and San Diego Chargers, Sproles has been an effective threat on the ground and through the air. He has rushed for 2,221 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 378 passes for 3,381 yards and 27 touchdowns.
