Louisville, KY (Sportsbooks) - Churchill Downs executives couldn't be more happier with the results from the track's recently completed 21-day fall meet. The historic track registered its 50,000th race during the meeting which concluded Sunday, Nov. 25.

"It was a satisfying meet on many levels, as we continue to navigate a challenging competitive environment," said Kevin Flanery, President of Churchill Downs. "We greatly appreciate the support of fans who wagered on Churchill Downs races at the track, online through TwinSpires.com or at simulcast centers around the nation, and we sincerely thank the owners, trainers and jockeys who continue to support and sustain our daily racing program and stakes schedule."

Showing continued popularity was the track's "Downs After Dark" night racing. Nearly 16,000 fans attended the evening program on Saturday, Nov. 17. The wagering total of more than $7.4 million represented the third-largest wagering total in 18 "Downs After Dark" or "Opening Night" racing sessions.

"Our Fall Meet is always a fast-moving treasure, and our 21 days of racing were packed with wonderful performances on the track by horses and humans, another testament from fans to the allure of 'Downs After Dark' night racing, a high quality daily racing product with great food, fun and entertainment for our patrons during their visits to Churchill Downs," said Flanery. "Our fans got a taste of the new Paddock Plaza and their feedback on that venue was positive and enthusiastic. We look forward to the Plaza becoming a very popular spot for Kentucky Derby and Oaks Week and other special events in 2013."

Churchill Downs' 50,000th race occurred with the 10th race on Thanksgiving Day as Kris Royal won a one-mile turf allowance.

The track will resume live racing with its spring meet from April 27 through June 30 highlighted by the 139th Kentucky Derby on May 4. Churchill Downs will also offer racing with the inaugural September meet running from Sept. 6-29 and a fall meeting from Oct. 27-Nov. 30.
