How Does Card Counting Work?

Here is the quickest and clearest explanation you will ever find on card counting. The following system is not only known as one of the best systems out there, but it will also give you a general idea about how card counting works.

The High/Low or Plus/Minus point count system

Player Advantage
When the deck has a shortage of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Player Disadvantage
When the deck has a shortage of 10-valued cards, Ace.

COUNTING
Add and Subtract values according to the chart below.

Card  2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
Add  1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |

Card  7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | A |
Subtract  0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 |

USING YOUR ADVANTAGE
Count when the deck is full of 10s, and Aces, and then do one of the following:
* Bet high.
* Adjust your Basic Strategy play according to the appropriate level of advantage you have counted.

Use the following chart to determine how much to bet and when. For example, let's say you just bet $10. At the end of the same hand, the count is +6 (you're in really good shape). So, for the next hand, you bet 4x10,m as the chart indicates.

Player's Hand Dealer's Card
1
+1 or less
2
+2 or +3
3
+4 or +5
4
+6 of +7
5
+8 or more
