Redskins release John Beck NFL Football 04/28/2012
Ashburn, VA (Sportsbooks) - The Washington Redskins have released quarterback John Beck, who became expendable when the club elected to select Kirk Cousins in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. Washington had already selected Robert Griffin III with the second overall pick of the draft on Thursday. Cousins, who set numerous passing records at Michigan State, was then chosen with the 102nd overall pick. Beck started three games, all losses, for the Redskins in 2011 and appeared in one other contest. He complete

days before the draft that Luck would be their pick, confirming months of speculation-turned fait accompli. Nor was it a shock what came next: Quarterback Robert Griffin III, the first Heisman Trophy winner in Baylor history, was picked No. 2 by the Washington Redskins. It was the first time quarterbacks were taken with the first two picks in the draft since 1999, when the first three names called were all QBs. Three signal callers were taken in the top eight, with Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill going to the Miami

Report: Redskins' Meriweather arrested for DUI NFL Football 04/26/2012
Washington, DC (Sportsbooks) - Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was reportedly arrested Thursday in Virginia on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Meriweather refused a breathalyzer test after being pulled over on Interstate 66 in Arlington and was taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test, according to WJLA-TV. The two-time Pro Bowl safety signed a two-year contract with the Redskins last month after five seasons with the Patriots and Bears.
Nobody asked me, but ... NFL Football 04/26/2012
Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbooks) - Maybe I'll wash my car two or three times while waiting for the Washington Redskins to pick Robert Griffin. Or finish up "War and Peace." Perhaps I'll pick up chess. That's the thing about the NFL Draft, it just drags on forever and the waiting between picks, with sincere apologies to the great Tom Petty, is the hardest part. Now, please don't get me wrong, I love the draft and all the buildup to it (even though I pick on mock drafts done by amateurs), but when it arrives, you
Redskins bring in Neil Rackers NFL Football 04/25/2012
Ashburn, VA (Sportsbooks) - The Washington Redskins have brought in Neil Rackers to compete with Graham Gano for the kicking job in 2012. FOX-26 Sports in Houston said Rackers, who spent the past two seasons with the Texans, has agreed to a one-year deal with Washington. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, briefing the media on the team's draft plans Wednesday, confirmed the acquisition. "We had a chance to get a guy who was a proven kicker," Shanahan said. "There's no promises ... and he wasn't afraid to come in an
