AFC South lead on line in showdown between Titans, Texans NFL Football 10/21/2011
e "Lesser of Four Evils" Bowl. In an AFC South Division bereft of a true powerhouse -- defending champion Indianapolis is 0-6, perennial dark-horse Jacksonville is 1-5 -- the battle for supremacy is left instead to the something-less-than-juggernaut Tennessee Titans and the barely-ahead-of-mediocre Houston Texans, two teams that will square off in an important division clash Sunday at LP Field. And to the winner of this midseason version of February's big game, perhaps the Steve Lombardi Trophy? A token previou
Texans WR Johnson not ready to return NFL Football 10/21/2011
Houston, TX (Sportsbooks) - Still recovering from minor leg surgery, Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson will miss Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Friday that Johnson is "not where he needs to be." Kubiak said the receiver is doing well, but needs to make another step in his recovery before the team is comfortable with him playing. Johnson underwent the procedure October 4 to repair a right hamstring injury suffered two days earlier, in a game against Pi
Haden and Mack miss practice for Cleveland NFL Football 10/13/2011
Berea, OH (Sportsbooks) - Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden and center Alex Mack missed practice for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Haden sprained his knee on October 2 against the Tennessee Titans. He has 13 tackles, one sack and eight passes defended so far this season. Mack is recovering from an appendectomy he had done on October 3. In addition, linebacker Titus Brown (ankle), wide receiver Joshua Cribbs (knee) and offensive lineman Tony Pashos (ankle) were limited in practice, while defens

ling the flu, Kirk Gibson homering on two bad legs or Joe Montana on chicken soup fuel. It was just Pittsburgh's quarterback doing his job. Though Tomlin had already announced during the week that Roethlisberger was likely to play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans despite a sprained left foot that left him wearing a special cleat, many were left wondering just how effective he would be, or even how long he would last. The answer didn't seem to shock Roethlisberger or his head coach. Roethlisberger connected o
Big Ben throws five TDs as Steelers dominate Titans NFL Football 10/09/2011
Pittsburgh, PA (Sportsbooks) - Ben Roethlisberger threw five touchdowns for the second time in his career as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Tennessee Titans, 38-17. Roethlisberger, who played through a sprained left foot, completed 24-of-34 passes for 228 yards for the Steelers (3-2), who bounced back nicely after a 17-10 loss last Sunday against Houston. The two-time Super Bowl winner came into the game with just three passing touchdowns and nine turnovers, five of them interceptions. "I'm not the on

Steelers bounce back, rip Titans 38-17 NFL Football 10/09/2011

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ben Roethlisberger tied a team record with five touchdown passes - including two to Hines Ward - and the Pittsburgh Steelers rolled past the Tennessee Titans 38-17 on Sunday.

Other than a slight limp when he ran, Roethlisberger appeared to have no issues with his sprained left foot, also hitting Mike Wallace, Heath Miller and David Johnson for scores as the Steelers (3-2) ended Tennessee's three-game winning streak.

The five touchdown passes tied a single-game team record Roethlisberger

Surging Titans ready for test from established Steelers NFL Football 10/07/2011
(Sportsbooks) - Points have been hard to come by this season when the Tennessee Titans or Pittsburgh Steelers are lined up on the defensive side of the ball, but the edge in this Week 5 showdown at Heinz Field could have shifted to the visitors because of an injury to Steelers linebacker James Harrison. A left foot ailment to Ben Roethlisberger isn't likely to help Pittsburgh's chances on Sunday either as it tries to prevent Tennessee and resurgent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck from recording a fourth straigh
Lions sign safety Fuller NFL Football 10/06/2011
Allen Park, MI (Sportsbooks) - The Detroit Lions signed safety Vincent Fuller. The 29-year-old Virginia Tech product spent his first six seasons with the Tennessee Titans, where he recorded 162 tackles with two sacks and six interceptions. He started five games. Fuller and Lions head coach Jim Schwartz have reunited as Schwartz served as Tennessee's defensive coordinator from 2001-2008. The Titans originally selected Fuller in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Detroit also released guard Jacques McCle

id get a little help from Tony Romo along the way, though, with the unpredictable Cowboys quarterback returning to his Week 1 goat role by tossing three second- half interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Looks like the surprising Tennessee Titans didn't miss Kenny Britt too much. In the team's first game without its injured standout receiver, role players such as tight end Jared Cook (93 yards, 1 TD) and Nate Washington (62 yards, 1 TD) stepped up noticeably and the Matt Hasselbeck-led offen
