Titans coordinator: Team was dealt 'perfect storm' Headlines 06/17/2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -Chuck Cecil's first season as the Tennessee Titans' defensive coordinator couldn't have been more memorable - and for all the wrong reasons.

The Titans started 0-6 and hit a low point with a 59-0 rout in New England, giving up a franchise-worst 619 yards in the loss. A defense that returned 10 starters from one of the NFL's best units in 2008 lost three defensive backs to injury during the skid. Cecil took much of the blame as furious fans flooded message boards and radio shows deman

Redskins, Haynesworth at odds NFL Football 06/16/2010
After many years in the NFL, I know what it takes for me to perform at my highest level. My number one goal has always been to help my team win, period. It's also important at my position to help free my teammates to make plays, which I've done throughout my career when I've been allowed to play to my strengths. I will continue to work individually to prepare for training camp and the start of the 2010 season." Haynesworth spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans before joining the Redskins.

Having pocketed his money, Haynesworth simply wants out of Washington. He is unhappy that the Redskins are switching to a 3-4 defense and prefers a scheme that would allow him the type of freedom he had during his seven seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Hoping for a trade, he did not participate in the team's offseason conditioning program and skipped two voluntary minicamps.

Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

about Haynesworth's decision not to participate in the team's voluntary offseason conditioning program. Haynesworth felt he needed to work with his own trainer to regain the strength that made him such a feared player during his seven years with the Tennessee Titans.

If that were all, it wouldn't be a huge deal - it happens all the time around the league - but Haynesworth also doesn't like the changes that have been made to the game plan. New defensive coordinator Jim Haslett will play a 3-4 alignment, and Ha

The projected completion date of EWU's red turf is Sept. 3, with the first game on it taking place Sept. 18 versus Montana. When the project is completed, the field will be re-named Roos Field in appreciation for the $500,000 pledge made by Michael and Katherine Roos toward the project. Michael Roos, who played for EWU, is entering his sixth season with the Tennessee Titans.

Nashville, TN (Sportsbooks) - Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young spoke following the team's minicamp Monday and issued an apology in the wake of an assault citation he received for his involvement in a fight at a Dallas strip club. "I apologized to my teammates and my coaching staff as well as the organization. They respect me for doing that. They understand how it is out there with the off-the-field stuff. That's something that I regret that I ever did, but at the same time I'm moving on from that. I
Titans lose CB Hood to ACL tear NFL Football 06/14/2010

The Tennessean is reporting Hood suffered the tear during non-OTA work on Friday. Titans LB McRath suspended four games NFL Football 06/14/2010
Nashville, TN (Sportsbooks) - Tennessee Titans linebacker Gerald McRath has been suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs. "I have been aware of the situation. I'd say that it didn't come as a surprise because Gerald has gone through the appeal process," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher following Monday's minicamp. "There are situations where even though you think you are taking a product that is safe, often times there are c
