Bruce heads back to Rams to retire NFL Football 06/07/2010

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -Isaac Bruce is headed back to his old team to retire with the St. Louis Rams.

The San Francisco 49ers have traded the 37-year-old wide receiver to the Rams, who will hold a news conference with Bruce on Wednesday as he formally announces his retirement.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Bruce's name had still been listed on the 49ers' roster even though it was all but certain he wouldn't be back for the 2010 season.

Atogwe becomes unrestricted free agent NFL Football 06/02/2010

ST. LOUIS (AP) -St. Louis Rams free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe, the team's top playmaker the last four seasons, has become an unrestricted free agent after failing to come to an agreement on a multiyear contract.

The Rams had a late Tuesday deadline to sign Atogwe, who is coming off shoulder surgery that sidelined him the final four games last season. St. Louis declined to sign Atogwe to a one-year tender for $6,976,000, the player's salary for last year plus 10 percent.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -Retired defensive tackle La'Roi Glover has a new job for the St. Louis Rams - helping young players make the transition to professional football and learn how to deal with off-the-field matters.

The Rams announced Wednesday that Glover has been named director of player programs.

Glover played 13 NFL seasons and was named to six straight Pro Bowls. He spent his final three seasons in St. Louis before retiring in 2008.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is liking the new offense.

Cutler and the rest of the team are getting used to the system brought in by new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. He was the head coach when the St. Louis Rams were led by Kurt Warner and dubbed the ``Greatest Show on Turf.''

Cutler said Friday that he likes the attack - even if he thinks it will take until July training camp before everyone is comfortable with it. He says it is fast paced and ``high octane.''
