| Peoria, AZ (Sportsbooks) - The San Diego Padres signed pitcher Shawn Hill to a minor league contract Monday among a host of roster moves by the team. The right-hander was released by the Nationals last week. He had his 2008 season cut short due to soreness in his right elbow and forearm and eventually underwent a procedure to remove calcium deposits in the elbow. | San Diego, CA (Sportsbooks) - The San Diego Padres agreed to a minor league deal with relief pitcher Duaner Sanchez on Sunday. The right-hander went 5-1 with a 4.32 earned run average in 66 games last year for the Mets. Sanchez had missed the entire 2007 season after surgery for a right shoulder injury that occurred in spring training. | Peoria, AZ (Sportsbooks) - The San Diego Padres signed outfielder Chris Snelling to a minor league contract on Saturday. The 27-year-old Snelling played in four games for the Phillies last season. He also appeared in 39 minor league contests, but injuries to his left knee limited his time on the field. Over parts of five major league seasons with Seattle, Washington, Oakland and Philadelphia, Snelling is a career .244 hitter. |
