| New York, NY (Sportsbooks) - Philadelphia 76ers forward Derrick Coleman was suspended for one game without pay by the NBA for pleading no contest to driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. Coleman was stopped for speeding on July 27 in Farmington Hills and taken into custody after refusing a breathalyzer test. Later tests showed that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.13 percent. | Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbooks) - The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Friday that they have waived guard William Avery and center Alvin Jones. Avery, 23, has averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 assists per game in his three-year career, all with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Avery was signed by the Sixers as a free agent on September 30, 2002, and played in the Sixers' first preseason game, and scored six points in 26 minutes.
