NAPA, Calif. (AP) -Coach Tom Cable says offseason acquisition Jason Campbell will open training camp as the Oakland Raiders' starting quarterback.

Cable spoke on Wednesday at the Raiders' first full day of camp. The team has meetings scheduled all day long and will begin practice on Thursday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Jack Tatum, the Pro Bowl safety for the Oakland Raiders best known for his crushing hit that paralyzed Darryl Stingley in an NFL preseason game in 1978, has died. He was 61.

Nicknamed ``The Assassin,'' Tatum, died of a heart attack Tuesday in an Oakland hospital, according to friend and former Ohio State teammate John Hicks. Hicks said Tatum had diabetes the past several years, and had lost his left leg because of circulation problems.

Oakland, CA (Sportsbooks) - The Oakland Raiders have signed defensive lineman Lamarr Houston, their second-round draft choice. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Houston was the 44th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Texas. With the contract for the defensive end announced Monday, the Raiders have signed all but one of their draft picks. The team hopes to have first-rounder Rolando McClain signed by the time the first training camp practice begins Thursday.
