Saints ink CB Torrence NFL Football 03/09/2010
Metairie, LA (Sportsbooks) - The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms with cornerback Leigh Torrence on a one-year contract Tuesday. Torrence spent the past two years with New Orleans, appearing in 12 total games. He had four tackles and a half-sack on defense and registered five special teams stops in 2009 before landing on season-ending injured reserve with a shoulder injury. In parts of four seasons with New Orleans and Washington, Torrence has 55 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and 42 special teams stops in 47 games.

METAIRIE, La. (AP) -New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis says the club has agreed to re-sign reserve defensive back Leigh Torrence to a one-year contract.

Torrence has been with the Saints since being claimed off waivers in November 2008.

He played in five games for New Orleans in 2009 before injuring his shoulder and finishing the year on injured reserve.

The 5-foot-11, 179-pound former Stanford standout has played four NFL seasons, including stints with Atlanta and Washington.

Fujita played last year for the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, logging 58 tackles and a sack in 11 regular-season games. CLEVELAND (AP) -The Cleveland Browns have signed linebacker Scott Fujita (foo-JEE'-tah) and offensive lineman Tony Pashos (PAH'-shohs) to multiyear contracts as unrestricted free agents.

Fujita, an eight-year veteran, helped lead the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl victory last season.

Pashos has played seven NFL seasons, including last year with the San Francisco 49ers.

Terms of their contracts were not disclosed.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The company that made a 1983 recording of what became one of the New Orleans Saints' most popular cheers has filed a trademark suit against the state and the team.

NFL Properties LLC, which deals with National Football League trademarks, is also a defendant in the suit filed Thursday in federal district court in Baton Rouge by Who Dat? Inc.
