Nets to host slumping Pistons, aim for rare win streak NBA Basketball 03/26/2010
(Sportsbooks) - The New Jersey Nets may not end up with the NBA's all-time worst record after all. They'll shoot for their ninth win of the season tonight versus the Detroit Pistons in the finale of a four-game homestand. New Jersey ended an eight-game losing streak with Wednesday's 93-79 victory over the Sacramento Kings behind a game-high 26 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks from Brook Lopez. Devin Harris had 24 points and nine assists while Courtney Lee chipped in 12 points and five boards for the Net
Nets executive comes back with plan for paper bags NBA Basketball 03/24/2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -New Jersey Nets chief executive Brett Yormark isn't one to let a marketing opportunity go astray.

Two days after a brief finger-pointing exchange with a fan who wore a paper bag on his head to protest the Nets' dismal season, Yormark came prepared for more potential protesters during Wednesday's game against Sacramento.

Any fan who put a paper bag on his head would be offered a nylon Nets' bag containing a poster, a pack of player trading cards and a printed note from Yormark

Kings kick off road trip against hapless Nets NBA Basketball 03/24/2010
(Sportsbooks) - Two teams with early vacation plans get together Wednesday night at the Meadowlands, where the New Jersey Nets play host to the Sacramento Kings at the IZOD Center. The Nets have lost eight in a row and fell to an NBA-worst 7-63 this season after a 99-89 loss versus Miami on Monday. Brook Lopez ended with 26 points, while Devin Harris chipped in 16 points and six assists for the Nets, who are in danger of establishing a new league mark for futility set by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers (9-7
Nets chief executive argues with paper-bagged fan NBA Basketball 03/23/2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -The chief executive of the New Jersey Nets says he has no regrets about arguing with a fan who wore a paper bag over his head during yet another loss by the team.

CEO Brett Yormack said in a statement Tuesday he wanted to let the fan know he didn't agree with the way he was expressing his opinion.

Yormark approached the fan during a 99-89 loss to Miami on Monday night. He asked why he was wearing the bag. When the fan told him because the Nets were so good, Yormark exchanged

Nets rookie Terrence Williams out with foot injury NBA Basketball 03/22/2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Rookie Terrence Williams had to leave the New Jersey Nets game against the Miami Heat in the third quarter after injuring his left foot on a drive to the basket.

Williams drove hard to the basket from the right corner and appeared to twist his left foot after landing on the foot of Jermaine O'Neal.

Williams grabbed his foot in obvious pain but he managed to walk to the Nets bench about halfway through the quarter.

The team said he would not return. He finished with nine poi

Jayson Williams asks court to toss NYC DWI case NBA Basketball 03/22/2010

NEW YORK (AP) - Former NBA star Jayson Williams had done nothing illegal and was just sitting in his wrecked car when police arrested him on drunken-driving charges earlier this year, a defense lawyer said Monday.

The former New Jersey Nets player ``had not, was not or was not about to do any act which constituted a crime,'' attorney Oscar Holt III wrote in urging a judge to toss out the case.

Interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe misses Nets game NBA Basketball 03/22/2010

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -Interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe missed the New Jersey Nets' game against the Miami Heat on Monday night because of an illness in the family.

The Nets, who are riding a seven-game losing streak, said Vandeweghe's mother is gravely ill. Assistant coach John Loyer was to coach the team against Miami.

``It will be a little different but he has to attend to some family matters,'' forward Jarvis Hayes said. ``I wish him all the best.''

The last time Loyer coached a game was at the

ets is a recruiting pitch from Michael Jordan.

It's one the perks for the Charlotte Bobcats now that the Hall of Famer owns the team. Only being a big player in free agency isn't on Jordan's agenda - or even possible.

Unlike the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets and Chicago Bulls, the Bobcats have no salary-cap space to participate in the summer free agency bonanza that could include James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Amare Stoudemire.

And Jordan doesn't mind. In moving up from a minority investor with th
