NFL Football |

| New York, NY (Sportsbooks) - Weber State wide receiver Tim Toone was taken by the Detroit Lions with the 255th selection in the 2010 NFL Draft, the latest player dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant," the moniker given annually to the draft's final pick. The final four rounds of the NFL's 75th annual draft took place on Saturday, typically the normal starting day for the event. The league shifted gears this year, as the first round commenced on Thursday followed by the second and third rounds 24 hours later. Cincinnat |

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -The Detroit Lions knew they had to use the draft to help rebuild a franchise that has only won two games in the last two years. They just didn't do it in the traditional way. Detroit traded five of their seven draft picks, helping them pick up several veterans and an extra first-rounder, but leaving them with just two picks between the second and sixth rounds. The Lions picked up Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh with the second overall pick, then made a trade with Minn |

| mukong Suh started playing soccer when he was 3 and gave it up in the eighth grade to try football. Good call. Suh stands to make at least $60 million as the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. He will earn the money, relatively speaking, because the Detroit Lions desperately need him to be worth every penny to help their floundering franchise. ``I'm not afraid of this situation,'' Suh said Friday. Jahvid Best isn't, either. ``If we can turn this program around, that would really be something special,'' |

| Obviously, I haven't looked at the playbook. I haven't gone through any practices or anything like that, but I'm going to tell you that I'm going to work as hard as I possibly can to get on the field as soon as possible." The second pick went to the Detroit Lions, who improved their defensive line with the selection of Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh. Suh, who many view as the most talented player of this draft, won numerous awards after wreaking havoc throughout the season for the Cornhuskers. In 13 games last sea |

| rst-round: 1 - St. Louis Rams - Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma (6-4, 236) - No big surprise here, as Bradford was the most NFL-ready quarterback in this Draft. He's not going to have a lot of fun throwing to Danny Amendola and Keenan Burton, though. 2 - Detroit Lions - Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska (6-4, 307) - The Lions went chalk as well, taking the most dominant player in the college ranks in 2010. The Lions are getting closer to Jim Schwartz's vision on defense, but still need LB help. 3 - Tampa Bay Buccaneers |

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will need help to lead a turnaround. Stafford thinks he's getting it. ``It's great to know the front office is trying to build around me and give me as many weapons as they can,'' he said Tuesday. The Lions kicked off free agency by signing free agent receiver Nate Burleson, acquired guard Rob Sims earlier this month and tight end Tony Scheffler on Monday in trades. Stafford said he was excited about playing with the 6-foot-5, 250- |

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -The Detroit Lions were historically bad the past two seasons in large part because their defenses ranked among the all-time worst. Detroit is expected to take a defensive tackle - Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh or Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy - on Thursday night with the No. 2 pick overall pick in the NFL draft. The Lions would have a choice between the two if the St. Louis Rams select Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford. Detroit general manager Martin Mayhew insisted recently that the fra |
