Cleveland, OH (Sportsbooks) - Former Cleveland Browns center LeCharles Bentley has sued the Browns, reportedly for fraud and negligent misrepresentation over a career-ending staph infection he suffered while with the club. Bentley filed his civil suit in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on Thursday, and the case has been assigned to Judge Joseph D. Russo. CLEVELAND (AP) -Former Cleveland Browns center LeCharles Bentley has filed a lawsuit against the team over a career-ending staph infection he says he contracted at the team's facility.

Bentley's attorney, Shannon Polk, said Thursday that the lawsuit filed in Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County Common Pleas Court seeks at least $25,000 in damages for alleged fraud and negligent misrepresentation. Bentley could seek more money in court.

CLEVELAND (AP) -The Cleveland Browns have signed rookie defensive back Larry Asante to a multiyear contract.

Terms were not disclosed Friday by the Browns, who selected Asante in the fifth round (No. 160 overall) in April's NFL draft.

The 6-foot, 210-pound Asante started 36 games in three years at Nebraska. He had 24 tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and a sack for the Cornhuskers.

CLEVELAND (AP) -Cleveland Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers will enter a diversion program to resolve a felony charge that he tried to carry a gun through airport security.

Under the deal approved Thursday in a Cleveland court, the gun charge will be dismissed if Rogers completes the program, which includes volunteer service and 10 hours in a gun class.

Police say Rogers had the semiautomatic handgun in a carry-on bag at Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport in April.

CLEVELAND (AP) -Cleveland Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers has reached an agreement with prosecutors that could dismiss charges that he tried to carry a gun through airport security in April.

CLEVELAND (AP) -Free agent wide receiver Bobby Engram has signed with the Cleveland Browns.

Terms of the deal announced Thursday were not disclosed.

The 37-year-old Engram had five receptions for 61 yards in five games last season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
