Browns release former Pro Bowl QB Derek Anderson NFL Football 03/09/2010

CLEVELAND (AP) -Quarterback Derek Anderson's uneven five-year stint with the Cleveland Browns is over.

The team released the one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tuesday, one day after the Browns acquired backup Seneca Wallace in a trade from Seattle.

Anderson made the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdown passes and led the club to a 10-6 record. However, his promising career has been in a tailspin ever since. He lost his starting job to Brady Quinn at the start of last season, got it back, lost it again

Browns part ways with QB Anderson NFL Football 03/09/2010
Berea, OH (Sportsbooks) - The Cleveland Browns terminated the contract of quarterback Derek Anderson on Tuesday. The move comes less than 24 hours after the Browns traded for Seneca Wallace and seems to open the door for Brady Quinn to step in as the team's unquestioned full-time starter under center. "I want to thank Derek for everything that he gave the Cleveland Browns organization over the last five years," said Browns head coach Eric Mangini. "He did everything we asked of him and it was a pleasure to

Browns acquire rights to QB Wallace NFL Football 03/09/2010
Berea, OH (Sportsbooks) - The Cleveland Browns acquired the rights to quarterback Seneca Wallace on Monday, sending an undisclosed 2011 draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange. The trade is contingent on Wallace passing a physical later this week. Wallace was never the No. 1 quarterback for the Seahawks but made 14 starts during his seven-year career with the club, which made him a fourth-round selection in the 2003 draft. In all, he has appeared in 48 games and thrown for 3,547 passing yards with 25
Browns add LB Fujita, OL Pashos NFL Football 03/07/2010
Cleveland, OH (Sportsbooks) - The Cleveland Browns added a pair of free agents in linebacker Scott Fujita and offensive lineman Tony Pashos on Sunday, signing both to multi-year contracts. Fujita played last year for the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, logging 58 tackles and a sack in 11 regular-season games. The 30-year-old University of California product has played in 120 games throughout his eight-year career, starting 103 of those contests, and has amassed 801 tackles, 19 sacks, five intercepti

CLEVELAND (AP) -The Cleveland Browns have signed linebacker Scott Fujita (foo-JEE'-tah) and offensive lineman Tony Pashos (PAH'-shohs) to multiyear contracts as unrestricted free agents.

Fujita, an eight-year veteran, helped lead the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl victory last season.

Pashos has played seven NFL seasons, including last year with the San Francisco 49ers.

Terms of their contracts were not disclosed.

On Saturday, Detroit signed the players it coveted most in free agency - defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch and receiver Nate Burleson - a day after acquiring defensive Corey Williams in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.

``They were the No. 1 guys we wanted to go after,'' Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. ``To able to get it done is very gratifying.''

It also was expensive.

guaranteed. With incentives, the pact could make him the highest-paid special teams player in the NFL. This after the two sides had sometimes contentious offseason negotiations. "I'm very happy to announce that Josh Cribbs is going to be part of the Cleveland Browns for a long time," said Browns president Mike Holmgren in announcing the deal. "We all know what type of player Josh is. In talking with people that I trust and know, he's a quality young man. We're very happy as an organization that it worked out."
