Panthers place CB Munnerlyn on IR NFL Football 12/23/2011
Charlotte, NC (Sportsbooks) - The Carolina Panthers placed cornerback Captain Munnerlyn on injured reserve Friday with a left hamstring injury. Munnerlyn, who had started all 14 games for the Panthers this season, was hurt during Sunday's win over Houston. The third-year player had 58 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. He was the 17th Panther placed on IR this season, a new team record, and the fifth starter on defense to go out.

hard has been a continuing problem, according to Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris. Losing has been an ongoing issue as well for the Bucs, who look to put an end to their eight-game slide Saturday on the road against the NFC South-rival Carolina Panthers from Bank of America Stadium. Tampa Bay is coming off Saturday's lopsided 31-15 loss versus the Dallas Cowboys, one Morris deemed as unacceptable, disappointing and not good enough. Newton completed 13-of-23 passes for 149 yards and added 55 rushing yards for Carolina (5-9), which has won three of its last four games. Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbooks) - Mike Smith's brief stay at a Charlotte hospital following his Atlanta Falcons' tension-filled victory over the Carolina Panthers last weekend was a stark reminder of just how stressful this period of the season can be on NFL head coaches. Some have reason to be considerably more nervous than others. The volatility that presently exists among the head-coaching fraternity became all too apparent with the hasty dismissals of Kansas City's Todd Haley and Miami's Tony Sparano on T
